So as I mentioned, I’m a nurse. I started my career in 2006. Right now, I’m in nursing management at a long-term care facility. I’ve been doing this for about a year now. This is my first job in management, and some days are definitely better than others (as anyone in healthcare is well aware of). Today was a super busy day with seven admissions toward the end of my shift. Luckily they were mostly completed before I left. I really hate leaving before everyone is there and settled. Not to mention, I’m on call this weekend and through the upcoming week, so the more that is done before I leave, the fewer calls I should get throughout my night while I’m trying to sleep. I can’t always stay late because I have to pick up my son from daycare. If I’m late, I’m charged by the minute. $10 for the first minute and $3 for each additional minute. Wow! Does anyone else have late fees at their daycare like this??
After I was able to leave work today, I had to finish up some fundraiser errands. This will be my third year to have a walk/run event with money raised going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. I had to run and deliver a few final shirts and make some signs for our event to be held in the morning. The event is a lot of work for me, but my daughter really likes holding the event. She hopes so much for there to one day be a cure for type 1 diabetes. Tomorrow is supposed to be rainy, so I hope our event isn’t rained out. We will have it rain or shine, but really are hoping to grow this event. We are having a bounce house for the kids and a nutritionist is coming to set up a booth as well. The farmer’s market in town is offering a percent off for people who come to the walk, so hopefully this will help increase participation!
I better head to bed now so I can be rested for the morning. I’ll post event pictures soon!
